Extensive appellate experience in the New Mexico Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals, and in the federal appellate courts on labor law, civil rights, contract, real estate, banking, domestic relations, workers’ compensation, criminal defense, torts, medical malpractice, bankruptcy, adoption, taxation, trusts and estates, termination of parental rights cases and adoption cases. Have been appellate counsel in over 100 published cases. Have prepared amicus curiae briefs on complex constitutional, statutory and regulatory issues for submission to the U.S. Supreme Court, to state supreme courts, and to federal appellate courts.
Counsel in complex litigation at the trial level. Cases involved labor law, civil rights, torts, contracts, wages and hours, and environmental law. Consult with trial counsel on strategy decisions and legal arguments in complex cases at the trial court level and write memoranda, motions and briefs at the trial court level.
Appointed by the New Mexico Supreme Court to the Uniform Jury Instructions –Civil Committee (2008-2014). On the faculty for the Trial Lawyers’ 31st and 34th Annual Update on Tort Law (2012, 2015); the Trial Lawyers’ Evidence & Mock Trial Seminar (2012); the Children’s Law Institute (2006 and 2008-2019); the 2012 Annual Appellate Practice Institute; the 16th Annual Appellate Practice Institute: A Sophisticated Approach (2005); “Basic Appellate Practice in New Mexico: The New Mexico Court of Appeals Calendar System” (2001), a video-taped program used throughout the state; member of the Women’s Bar Association, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association; and the Appellate Practice Section of the New Mexico State Bar.
